WHY IT MATTERS:
- Food insecurity affects every community across the nation but disproportionately impacts low-income individuals and people of color. In fact, more than
34 million people , including 9 million children experience food insecurity in the U.S. - Healthy emotional connections and access to mental health services are vital to improving the health and well-being of underserved and diverse populations who have higher rates of poor mental health and suicide. In 2019-2020, more than
one in five adults in the U.S., or over 50 million Americans, experienced a mental illness, with over half not receiving treatment.
