How our grant funding works

The Humana Foundation focuses on four primary commitments, all of which have different grant periods and change according to available funds.

We encourage you to read about each to determine if your grant proposal idea fits one of our commitment areas.

Our grant management system streamlines the application process, allowing applicants to upload documents and track follow-up communications.

Proposals will be accepted through our new grant management system, which requires grantees to first establish a profile and complete an eligibility check. Please refer to the user guide with SmartSimple for tips on navigating the grant management system.

To start a grant application or submit a proposal

Each organization must set up an account and register before submitting a grant or proposal.

Follow these steps to get started.

Review the FAQ page to ensure your grant application or proposal aligns with one of our four commitments.
Go to Apply for Grants.
Follow the prompts to register your organization.
Activate the account by opening the link sent to the preferred email in your registration and setup a password.
After activating the account, you''ll be redirected to the home page to set up your organization's profile.

Connected Healthy Lives

The Humana Foundation opens its annual grant cycle in Q1 of each year.

Note: The Humana Foundation accepts both single and multi-year grant proposals.

Health Equity Innovation Fund

The Health Equity Innovation Fund is currently open by invitation only.

Organizations interested in learning more about research grant opportunities or submitting a proposal can start by completing a Contact Us form.

Disaster Philanthropy

Disaster funds provided by the Humana Foundation, along with matching donations made by Humana Inc. associates, are primary directed to provide immediate relief and long-term community health and recovery.

Additional funding may also be available for disaster preparedness in communities that are planning and training for a more equitable response to disasters, which accounts for unique needs across age, race, ethnicity and gender identity.
