Our focus is to invest in the following areas with our grant partners:
Post-secondary success and sustaining employment
We are looking to invest in projects that help individuals develop career skills and find steady, lasting employment. Ensuring post-secondary success for someone could mean helping them complete a college degree or become certified in a trade. It could mean a training or workforce development program that helps them get a job. These types of post-secondary successes lead to career success and allow individuals to find and sustain employment.
Projects that focus on asset security will help individuals and families build financial security and stability. This might mean establishing stable housing or home ownership. Or it may mean providing financial education to teach individuals and families how to build credit or create savings and retirement accounts. This education aims to prepare them for emergencies or life changes.
Improvements in the areas of post-secondary success, sustaining employment and asset security can help individuals establish stronger financial security, leading to both financial stability and mobility.
All Humana Foundation grant recipients must use the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s Healthy Days Survey as well as additional relevant metrics and tracking tools while completing their projects.
The Humana Foundation is committed to our headquarters city, Louisville, KY. While we are increasing our financial support of local opportunities that address social determinants of health (the conditions under which people are born, grow, live, work and age that impact overall health and well-being), we also believe there are important causes we should support to strengthen our hometown, even if they fall outside our general focus areas.
For this opportunity, the Humana Foundation looks to support eligible Louisville organizations with resources that represent all forms of philanthropic capital, including funding, leadership, business area expertise, and employee involvement. This combined level of support will allow both Humana and the Humana Foundation to provide opportunities for the growth and development of local nonprofits on both a programmatic and organizational level.
