Collaboration

We know that achieving health equity takes multiple sectors, communities and organizations working together and sharing resources to create long-term change. In an effort to encourage collaboration among nonprofits, grassroots organizations and a multitude of other sectors, The Humana Foundation intends to fund as many collaborative efforts as possible – with joint applications from two or more organizations.

We are also committed to providing all forms of philanthropic capital, including funding, leadership, business area expertise and employee involvement. Skills-based volunteering plays a role in our Louisville Community Partners Program. As a result, more Humana employees in Louisville are putting their strongest business skills to work for area nonprofits to increase capacity, access and sustainability.

Communities Partners

The Humana Foundation launched the Community Partners Program in 2018 in the Louisville area, giving the Foundation an opportunity to support organizations doing great work that aligns with Humana’s four dimensions of well-being: health, purpose, belonging and security. In its inaugural year, the Community Partners Program awarded $2 million to more than 30 Louisville organizations.

In 2019, the Community Partners Program again awarded more than $2 million to local nonprofits.  Programs that received funding contribute to health and well-being in the Louisville area by focusing on healthcare services, nutrition and food security, personal safety and shelter, built or natural environments, arts and culture, and education and early childhood development.
