Meet the Foundation: Tabinda Ghani

Who are the people that power The Humana Foundation? Each month, we will bring you a brief profile on one of our staff members from our recently expanded team, a board member, volunteer, or individual who works for one of our partners so you can learn more about who we are, what we care about and how the work of The Foundation happens.

Tabinda Ghani joined The Foundation in 2021 as a portfolio officer. She graduated from the University of Houston with a BBA in Operations management and a master’s degree in Business Administration and Social Work. She specializes in program development, team management, and strategic planning. Tabinda Ghani works with organizations that receive grant funds from The Humana Foundation. Apart from the financial support that Humana is able to provide nonprofits in the community, she partners with organizations to build capacity and sustainability.

At The Foundation, we are in the practice of talking about gratitude. Tabinda is grateful to be in a position where she doesn’t have to worry about her basic needs, and for the opportunity to serve others. She is currently reading When Affirmative Action was White by Ira Katznelson. She likes to exercise and bake sugary things.  Tabinda works for The Humana Foundation because she believes in its mission of addressing the social determinants of health. Throughout her career working in social services, she recognized that health cannot be addressed without addressing the underlying root causes that prevent people from achieving their best health. Tabinda was thrilled to join an organization that not only acknowledges this reality, but also actively creates partnerships with organizations working to change the systems and structures that have for too long have created inequities in health.  Tabinda lives in Houston, TX with her husband and daughter.
