Meet the Foundation: Debbie Kunard-Hill

Who are the people that power The Humana Foundation? Each month, we will bring you a brief profile on one of our staff members from our recently expanded team, a board member, volunteer, or individual who works for one of our non-profit partners so you can learn more about who we are, what we care about and how the work of The Foundation happens.

Debbie provides administrative support to The Humana Foundation CEO, Walter Woods as well as the rest of the team. Having been with The Foundation for six years, Debbie is the longest serving team member and holds a lot of organizational wisdom. Debbie is grateful for family. She and her husband have four sons, three daughters-in-law, and four grandchildren.  She loves simply being with them, but says that the pandemic has made that difficult, especially given that her family lives in different states. She is looking forward to the time that she can go on vacation again with everyone.

Debbie cares for her well-being by exercising and practicing meditation daily. In her home gym, Debbie keeps it interesting and well-rounded with a mixture of routines using the elliptical, treadmill, stationary bike, as well as weights and yoga. She also loves walking and hiking outdoors. Debbie got into meditating about 8 years ago as a way to help balance the joys of life with the more difficult aspects that inevitably arise.  She is currently reading Life Lessons from Women in the Bible, by Rhonda Harrington Kelley. Philanthropy is important to Debbie because she believes that we are called to be loving, caring and giving people and that we should, all share our resources and talents to make that a reality.  She chose to share her talents by working with The Humana Foundation because she finds joy in helping people and being a small part behind the scenes of good work.
