Wellness Information Zone
In 2007, The Humana Foundation created the Wellness Information Zone to connect individuals and their families to free, reliable health information in everyday language. The initiative is designed for easy health reference through the use of a Website, health information kiosks, and trained guides.
About the Initiative
By using "high tech" Internet-based information and "high touch" trained guide assistance at the kiosks, individuals have access to the informational resources they need to make better decisions about their health.
A pilot initiative was launched in Atlanta in September 2007, and partners include the National Center for Family Literacy and YMCA. The project has since expanded to Houston and Louisville sites including libraries, community centers, health clinics, elementary schools, and YMCAs. The initiative may be introduced to additional communities in the future.
